Drogheda Community Forum had its beginnings in 1994 as the Community Development Working Group of Drogheda Pre-Partnership. The group’s aim was to bring together community organisations to look at ways of tackling local needs especially those associated with the most marginalised.
The Forum proper was set up in 1996 by the Community Development Committee of Drogheda Partnership in consultation with the Working Group. It was decided that the Forum would replace the Working Group, be independent from the Partnership and would elect six community directors to the Partnership Board.
The Forum has developed into support agency for local community groups and provides support and advice in the areas of training, funding, advocacy and community development. The Forum publishes a community directory, and regular newsletter.
